Adamawa Concludes Plan For Yola Flyover Projects

The Adamawa State Government says it has completed plans to begin the construction of flyovers in four strategic locations within the state capital, Yola.

The state Commissioner of Works and Energy Development, Adamu Atiku Abubakar, who disclosed this to newsmen in Yola, said the planned flyovers at the police roundabout in the heart of Jimeta and three other locations within the capital metropolis will address the infrastructural needs of the state and
address future challenge of human population growth.

Yola does not yet have any flyover and Governor Ahmadu Fintiri had first announced the plans by his administration to
construct the first flyover bridges in the state about six months ago.
Away from the police roundabout, Total Junction (a section of Jimeta around the city’s main market where vehicular traffic frequently builds up), Mubi Roundabout (another famous traffic hub), as well as PZ Roundabout are to have the planned flyovers.

The Commissioner of Works and Energy Development said the state Ministry of Works will be embarking on the projects tointroduce flyovers at really congested areas.

“And we have identified four very densely populated areas that we would need to ease traffic flow. These areas are the Mubi roundabout, the PZ roundabout, theTotal fly over; but most importantly the police roundabout. Those are four strategic locations where we need to introduce flyovers to easeoff the traffic congestion in those areas,” he explained.

He added that the flyovers formed part of he new projects which the Fintiri administration is executing along completion of projects started by the previous administration.

Adamu Atiku Abubakar explained that a substantial part of the funding for the projects will be sourced from the N17billion loan which the state government is seeking from the financial market as approved by the state House of Assembly.
