OVER 4.8 BILLION NAIRA FOR CONSTRUCTION OF 1000 HOUSES APPROVED BY ADAMAWA EXCO AS PART OF PHASE ONE OF THE HOUSING PROJECT
Adamawa State Executive Council Wednesday approved over four point eight billion naira for the construction of one thousand houses under the first phase of the two thousand housing unit project in the state.
The Commissioner of Information and Strategy Doctor Umar Garba Pela revealed this while briefing newsmen shortly after the council meeting presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in the Council Chamber, Government House, Yola.
He explained that out of the one thousand houses, three hundred and fifty houses are under the category of three bedrooms while six hundred and fifty will be under the category of two bedrooms which will be built at Malkohi Yola Greater Bypass.
Doctor Garba Pella said the funds approved by the council have already been deposited into the government special project account by the financiers of the project, family homes limited for commencement of work.
He said the approval followed after the ministry of housing and urban development has undertaken a comprehensive analysis of the site and meeting up the procurement requirements through competitive bidding.
The commissioner said successful companies that will carry out the project have already emerged after completing the bidding process adding that contractors will now be mobilised to site for commencement of the project.
He stressed that the project is in line with the present administration’s commitment towards providing cheaper houses to common man.
