GOVERNOR FINTIRI VISITS IDPS IN GUYUK, VOWS TO DEAL WITH PERPETRATORS OF MAYHEM
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State visited Guyuk local Government to broker peace between the feuding parties of Lunguda and Waja tribes that have engaged each other in fighting over farmlands in the past few weeks.
Following renewed hostilities between the two tribes which saw the destruction of lives and property, thousands of internally Displaced Persons camped at the Cetral Primary School in Guyuk.
Governor Fintiri while on visit vowed to bring to book all those found to be involved in the crisis . The Governor sympathize with the plight of those affected and informed that a judicial panel of inquiry will be set up with a view to ascertaining the root cause of the problem and to also proffer solutions to it while also identifying Principal actors that will be brought to book if found wanting.
Governor Fintiri further stated that peace is everybody’s business and as such people who have coexisted for so long should not allow petty squabbles to degenerate into a full blown mayhem. He cautioned against any form of reprisal attacks while urging people to always relate to security operatives.
Governor Fintiri who took out time to visit the IDPs sympathized with their plight and promised that Government will cushion the effects of their situation and will ensure they all return to their home withing the shortest possible time.
The Paramount Ruler of the Lunguda Kingdom Kwandi Nunguraya HRH Kuruhaye Dishon Dansanda appreciated the effort Governor Fintiri stating that people in his domain are law abiding. He further informed that the destruction done is of a large magnitude which has thrown many people in dire need of food, shelter, medicaments and several basic necessary to which government intervention is urgently needed.
Several other speakers who included the CAN Chairman Adamawa State and the Chairman of the Adamawa State Muslim Council and the President of the Lutheran World Federation appealed for calm while calling on all and sundry to embrace peace.
Governor Fintiri was accompanied on the visit by the Deputy Governor Chief Crowther Seth, the Secretary to the State Government Bashiru Ahmad, Chief of Staff Prof Maxwell Gidado,the State Brigade Commander, the State Commissioner of police , Some members of the state Executive Council, members of the State Assembly and a host of others
